Beautiful Day

Last year or the year before we drove out here to Crescent Beach to watch some whales. This year there was just gorgeous scenery and bright turquoise water..

 It was hard to stop taking pictures!

 How Crescent City got its name!

After yesterday's cool weather, we were glad to be out here in the sunshine and blue sky (an no wind).

 Cary had his binoculars so we could look out and see Battery Point Lighthouse.

Almost Cold Today!

As promised, Ginger and Mark stopped by to see us before leaving for Oregon. I hope they can come back next year when the lighthouse is open!

We are huddled here between trailers to keep the cold air off!

 After lunch we wanted to go down to the beach to see the ocean and look for rocks. Jane, our neighbor in the RV park, has a shed full of agates and jasper and story rocks (and a rock polisher). Since Jane is on her way to England, we don't know what we found, but we had fun. If Sheila is this bundled up, you know it is COLD!

You can barely see the rocks behind me. This is about 12:30 in the afternoon.

 This is what it looked like when we drove over to the parking lot by the lighthouse. You can't see it too well, but I was able to catch the light flashing. We gathered some stones and hustled back to the truck. Brrr!

I may have another picture or two later; we are going out for Mexican food for supper.

As you can see, we made  it. Torrero's for a yummy supper!

The Museum, Lunch and Gift Shop

We met Ginger and Mark at the Del Norte County Historical Museum (wish I had taken a photo out front--they aren't allowed in here, which I should have known...don't look at anything but the people)!

I love to see old sewing machines, but I am glad to own the ones I have.

We ate lunch at the Apple Peddler (I had never eaten there before), with the idea there would be something for everyone. If I weren't so darned picky, I guess there would have been! Live and learn.

 Another hat for Sheila! We went to the gift store attached to the aquarium. Mark and Ginger took the tour and we just browsed.

Cary humored me with this picture. I probably took one of him here a few years ago when our friends Skip and Donna were in Crescent City.

We are hoping the weather is nice enough for a picnic tomorrow. Ginger and Mark will stop by in the morning to say bye before heading back to Salem.

Company for supper

Our friends Ginger and Mark came for supper. Cary grilled chicken and hamburgers. We were hoping to eat outside, but it was too cold! Sheila did a good job of entertaining them. It was a great evening. More visiting tomorrow.

Cars and Fog

 Cars (and their owners) seem to know where my husband will be! These are on their way to Pebble Beach.

There were more cars in the parking lot of the nearby lodge.

Sunday morning about 8:45. Lots of marine layer over the park. Our friends Mark and Ginger are coming for supper, so I had better get busy!

Keeping Busy

Thursday we were lucky to have a very nice evening for dining al fresco--grilled salmon

 Friday we decided to check out yard sales in Brookings across the border in Oregon, and were thrilled to see this herd of elk eating and relaxing in this field.

I nearly tripped over the flowers while focusing on the elk.

Sheila got some pictures too.

We followed a long, narrow and winding road to the top of a hill for one yard sale--the view from it looking down. You had to be there! Sheila started feeling nauseated by the time we got back on the highway. And no one even bought anything!

We had lunch at Sebastian's in the harbor. Our poor waitress with all our requests!

We always enjoy the attached gift shop--maybe not as much as Sheila did though!

Tomorrow--the Farmers' Market and more yard sales.

Trees

It was another beautiful morning, too nice to stay inside (we don't report to work till 10:30), so I decided to take my camera and shoot pictures of the gorgeous, very big trees in the RV park.

Just look at the size of these compared to the cars and trailers!

This is a pear tree--hard to tell from this view, but the RVers were right there, so I didn't want to get any closer.

The redwoods have such interesting texture.

One of my favorite colors, a respite from all the green.

Fish and chips at the Chart Room--Cary is holding my leftovers. Very yummy. Then back to the trailer to rest.
