Is This Getting Boring?

We have been in towns across the country with a painted animal of some sort standing outside local businesses--moose in New Hampshire, bears in Grants Pass--oh, and there were little painted cars outside businesses in Pontiac, Illinois. This year was the first we had seen the seals around town. Each is done by someone different, and they are signed. Here are the three we passed today. (To those of you who read this last night or before 8:15 EDT, I blame the late hour for calling them dolphins!)

Lunch again at Mo's: shrimp tacos for me and a shrimp melt for Cary.

Shop windows inviting you in...I haven't bought a new book yet though! We even had some things to donate to the humane society thrift store!

More Florence

We usually enter Florence from south to north (the direction you are looking in this photo), but since we came into town by way of Eugene, this was the first time we crossed the bridge this direction after going to a yard sale south of town.

I love this bridge that spans the Siuslaw River; our campground is across and to the right. Very handy to the old town, tourist area of Florence.

I did find some goodies here. It took a while to find, but our GPS did a good job!

We have walked to the old town past this harbor many times--you can see the bridge near the center of the picture--look closely!

 We see lots of great cars at this time of year here--I am sure they stay safely locked away during the rainy winter. This was parked at the humane society thrift store.

Sunday morning we drove along the coast scouting an area for a picnic. We can't find the one where we went with Sheila a few years ago. The wind has picked up considerably too, so our best bet for a picnic may be at our dining room table!

Lots of dunes along this part of the Oregon coast. They stretch from Coos Bay to Florence for forty miles.

Beautiful Day in Florence

No one should be surprised that we started the day at a yard sale (no, didn't need the U-Haul you see here). Coincidentally it was right across the street

From the home of the guy who used to own the Bliss Diner in Florence.

I got the picture from the internet; it has not been around for a few years.

Naturally Cary had to investigate!

I promise I will be taking pictures of the scenery. Since we will be here a week, I am spacing myself!

Sewing this afternoon, but I have a machine I am not used to using--couldn't get the tension adjusted correctly--so managed to hem some flannel lounge pants for Cary and put together one beanbag for our sewing group. I also did some hand sewing on a sweatshirt.

Jeopardy was on at 7:00, glad to say I knew the correct answer to Final Jeopardy, so a good ending to a great day!

Look closely--a house stands atop this bridge! You may notice the billboard for Mo's--the first place we headed after getting situated in the park--for a yummy bowl of clam chowder.

Salem, Day 4

Somehow I let our third day here get away from me. Ginger took us to the Subaru dealer in town so Cary could check them out, then took me to the fabric store that is closing down in town.

I bought a cute pincushion kit, which I do plan to finish and post a picture in the upcoming weeks.

 Ginger and Mark wanted us to share this restaurant experience with them; they are buddies with one of the waitresses and known to them all!

One more chance to photograph some of Ginger's gorgeous garden.

 On the way back to Silverton after a shopping trip in Wal-Mart I had to take this picture. It is a little theater--the next play to be performed is "Love in the Cucumber Patch," starting sometime in August.
