We expected a big group to start our day, so had a quick refresher course on using the cash register, scanner, etc. I think I caught on!
The group is a historical drinking society, or a drinking historical society--they are not sure which--E Clampus Vitus--35 men from mostly the Western states--lots of fun to start our month! their motto is: Credo Quia Absurdum, is generally understood as meaning "I believe it because it is absurd."
The scaffolding around the tower has to do with some rewiring work. We may not have a light for awhile.
The tide always comes in before we are done talking, but we are on our way!
Seniors were free today! Good thing, because we hardly had any money with us--just enough for lunch!
A singer
Lots of food choices
For Heather and Brian
There were lots of baked goods on display in lots of categories and age groups
A lone spinner
Quilt displays, as well as other needlecrafts. Several of us ladies agreed that the judges must not know much about sewing or quilting; there was one elaborate, all hand-pieced, embroidered and quilted that didn't even get an honorable mention!
Crochet
There was even a scarecrow making competition...what do you think?
This grotesque item is actually a cake!
Many floral arrangements and plants
Rides!
The ladies at the machines were assembling quilts from squares that the folks in front selected. Finished products go to the troops overseas. One woman, not in the picture was using a Singer Featherweight (or is it Featherlight?).
Lots of livestock--we left our shoes outside the trailer when we got home.
Fire throwers and a volunteer from the audience
So many varieties of rabbits!
Goats keeping warm
Lots of babies getting fed
