Saturday

 Lots of fog close to the coast. We started the day by searching for yard sales, only found two. I bought a blouse, still with its original tags, for $1.00! I do not need any more clothes, but that was just waiting for me. A stop at Walmart on the way home for some things Cary needed, then just took care of a few chores at home before a supper of ground turkey tacos and a Perry Mason movie. Cool day, some sunshine.

More of the same

 

Although we woke up to 49 degrees (we woke up earlier than usual), it warmed up quite nicely.

We were supposed to be giving tours starting at 3:00 p.m., but this is what the path looked like at 2:50. I called Bill to let him know we were being cautious; several other people with us were also hesitant. When we did get there about 3:15, the braver folks were already waiting! Busy, but not crazy.

While we waited at the picnic table before starting our walk, this little guy ambled by. I have no idea what it is, would just call it a hairy caterpillar. No where near as interesting as the seagull with the bag of peanuts!

Windy!

 We decided that today was the windiest day we have ever had to cross the path and ascend the cement walkway to the lighthouse--too precarious to stop to take a picture. There was more water across the path than we have had all summer. Glad to have the boots.

It was still pretty nice when we got up this morning. I took a few pictures in our park during my morning walk. Redwoods and other conifers,

After my walk we needed to call Advanced Bionics to check on an order that was shipped to Tucson (the second time), because no one asked Cary where he would be to receive his new processor and add-ons! Once again we asked our neighbor to watch for it. Then we went to Chase Bank to straighten out an issue with our online banking. After at least three years with the same laptop, all of a sudden "this device is not recognized." Athena was very helpful and I was able to pay the bill online.

Clam chowder and cornbread for supper. And football for Cary!

Cary's Birthday

 I didn't take any pictures today. I will make up for it tomorrow.

It was a perfect day, great weather, good tours--people from Australia, Canada, Surprise (AZ), Mexico (MO), a couple who flew over from England to do a bike tour of the area and I think there was another couple from England too. Busy for the whole two hours.

We got the stuff we needed for our tacos at Walmart this morning. I also got Cary a cheesecake platter for his birthday. 

The moon is gorgeous tonight, but too hard to photograph due to the trees.

I thought I was done being able to make any more microwave bowls because my bobbin winder on the sewing machine had started doing a crummy job. A friend in the RV park offered to wind some for me (I have to use all cotton threads for use in the microwave.), and that really made a difference. I was able to make two more this morning; I had already cut and marked the fabric at home. The lighthouse was down to just two bowls--not sure how many I had there to start with. Thank you, Sharon!

We had to wait for a while to go across the path; there was still water, but wearing our boots made a big difference. 

 When we got to work, Teare and Bill surprised us with chocolate chip cookies she had made this morning! Yum!

The water was still high (high again, I guess) when we left, so once again we donned our boots before walking back to the parking lot. Folks from Carson City, Alberta, and Japan, as well as Peoria, Arizona were our guests today (and lots of Californians escaping the heat). It was another gorgeous day.

Now my computer mouse is refusing to work, so I will check Walmart tomorrow when we get the fixings for tacos for Cary's birthday supper!

Labor Day

 Foggy all morning, had to wear our boots to cross over to the ramp leading to the lighthouse. Good tours, only open an hour, and the sun was shining brightly when we left at 1:30. 

 

As we were changing out of our boots back at the parking lot, this young man came up with his catch of the day--a blue green lingcod! I had never heard of that; it looked like something made out of rubber! But his plan was to have fish and chips for supper.

Keeping a Labor Day tradition,  Cary grilled bratwurst and chicken for supper.

Another Outrageous Day

 You would never know from the cloudy start to the day that the sun came out giving us another beautiful day. So many people here on a Labor Day weekend; I am glad they have such outstanding weather.

Our tours went well again. Folks from Germany, the UK, Cody, Wyoming (born in Kentucky and still has that accent), and probably Redding--everyone trying to get away from the heat.

One of the neighbors here is moving to Montana. I was able to get a few of her decorators.

I did a little more sewing; the microwave bowls I made to sell at the lighthouse are down to three. I was able to finish a bowl with the last of the bobbin thread--it has to be cotton and my bobbin winder doesn't work on this machine. Maybe Walmart will have a bobbin winder I can buy while I am here so I can use up the last of my fabric.
