Breathtaking Tour of the USS Lexington

As we crossed the bridge toward the Lexington, this was taken out the truck window.

It looks smaller from here than we we actually did the tour.

So much to see, we were there four hours and didn't process it all. If it had been warmer, we would have stayed on the flight deck longer.

Random shots of things we saw on the tour

Look at these bunks!

 Machine shop
Medical, dental and optical services were all provided.

This is for my sewing friends; the guy who owned this jacket turned it inside out and refashioned it!

I am standing beside the sign indicating the ship library. There were lots of books in there, but it was closed and dark (I could still see the books).

My Uncle Edwin was on the USS Lexington, but it must have been the one before this (this was renamed from the orignal Cabot name after the Lexington sank in the Coral Sea), because he was a prisoner of war in Japan when this one was first commissioned.

Out on the breezy flight deck. We must have gone up and down 50 flights of stairs to see as much as we did, and not all levels were even open to us.

At Pier 99 for a yummy seafood lunch

We probably do not need to eat again till breakfast.
