Last Day in ABQ June 10

June 10 was a day for some chores. I needed to mail an Etsy purchase which involved locating a post office. They are not that common. The woman at the RV park had no idea. Thank you, GPS. We also needed a few things at Walmart.

Cary had a few things to check on the trailer and was tired of driving. It is starting to get warm and there is still some smoke in the air.

From the internet; I didn't take any pictures today!

More Doings in Albuquerque June 9th

This was a wonderful little fabric store, lots of variety for its size. I found enough to make two blouses.

We made a trip to Walmart for a few things, need to go back soon for some groceries. Hard to believe we need groceries since we have only eaten supper in the trailer once!

Speaking of supper, we returned to a restaurant we had found out about from my hairdresser many years ago: El Pinto.

It didn't disappoint. Marshall, our waiter, was very attentive and even provided a bonus bag of sopaipillas to go!

Enchanted Trails RV Park in Albuquerque

The park is on Route 66, so the owners have set up four or five vintage trailers and cars. Inside the office are vintage items from the 1950s.

The car is a Hudson.

The evening cooled off nicely; we have the doors and windows open.

Repairs in Alamogordo

The trailer brakes were having issues yesterday, so today Cary took it over here where the problem was discovered, a part ordered and work done. All is well. Whew!
More about our day when I check back here tomorrow. I have now edited the post. When Cary gets a chance later he can explain the problem with the trailer.

Back at Wally and Patty's I took pictures of some of her many projects!

Patty's greenhouse

Patty's garden

lavender

Patty's flower garden

Apricot and peach trees, also where the chickens live

She gave me a demonstration in soap making.

The mixtures goes into one of these trays to set.

Patty also makes lotions. This lemon verbena smells wonderful!

Joey and Sadie are having lunch.

Pinky gets a special food dish so she doesn't gobble it all down too quickly. The dogs are super friendly and love to be petted.

Back at the RV, beautiful sunset. Good night.

Alamogordo and La Luz

I made a cherry Danish-type dessert this morning to take along when we visit our friends in La Luz. First time baking it in the trailer, turned out fine.

If you look closely you can sort of see the Organ Mountains, ghostly because of a wildfire sparked by a military practice.

Here is a view of the back side of the Organ Mountains taken at San Agustin Pass. Many years ago we stopped here. A trucker hauling cantaloupes gave us one and let Tina go up inside the cab and explore.

Right after leaving this spot, the indicator for the trailer tires started squealing. The tires had gotten too hot! Luckily, after quite some time, they cooled off enough to get us to Boot Hill RV Park (hope that isn't a bad sign...). Wally and Patty were expecting us, so we set up camp and headed to La Luz. Patty made some wonderful tacos (with that yummy Mexican cheese), cabbage, beans and rice. I provided the dessert. Great afternoon and evening, but Cary still has to solve the tire problem, will go to an RV place tomorrow.

I also want to take pictures of Patty's gardens and some of her projects: she makes soaps and lotions, even goes to the local Farmers' Market.

Las Cruces, Day Two

It's Saturday, so yard sales! This was one of the places, very pretty and the weather was still perfect.

These two images are from a yard across the street from another sale. Both tributes to Harry Potter, very cool.

My yard sale purchases: five for $1 paperback mysteries, various sewing supplies for $2.

This Ural motorcyle is Russian. It is parked in an RV spot here, haven't seen the owner.

and the other extreme, this beautiful truck that caught Cary's attention.

Cary got a stack of New Mexico magazines from a free box at one of the yard sales. This ad was in a 2005 issue. The friend we are visiting in La Luz opened this shop, made lots of lamps and shades before selling the business.

Of course I had to visit the fabric store. Saw this cute bench cushion with a Christmas neighborhood design, embroidery, decorative trim and buttons. There is no way I could do this, even with the kit that was sold there, but I might be able to do something similar on a smaller cushion.

We decided that Mexican food two nights in a row may be too much; we ate at this Denny's for an early supper, stopped at an Albertson's for some Baskin Robbins' for some Jamoca almond fudge ice cream.

Las Cruces

Since I have not tried to upload photos on this device for two years, I am still trying to figure it out! Got it! We had a decent drive, six+ hours. The GPS, which we didn't need but still like to view while driving, was rebelling. Something to check out another time.

Have to stop in Texas Canyon at the rest stop!

Lunch in Lordsburg at a Subway in the Pilot.

New Mexico is on daylight savings time, so we lost an hour and supper came sooner than planned. The restaurants here are like the ones at home, short on help. Si Senor had a packed parking lot, so we drove down the road to El Sombrero. Slow and disappointing. But I didn't have to plan a meal, cook or clean up.

Nice evening. Took a walk around the RV Park.
