Tucumcari 2016

After an unsuccessful hunt for Cary's sunglasses (he had a spare), we started towards Tucumcari. I love the wide open spaces, even saw two antelope. You will have to take my word for it--even if my camera were in my hands, I would have missed the shot.
Looking towards Santa Rosa where Route 66 picks up
Because the computer is acting up (slowing down), I will write and when I get a chance add the pictures. I do have the time--the program is being ornery!
Cactus RV Park is in what used to be a cute motel, typical of what a traveler would see on Route 66.
Each doorway had railings like this.

The door on the right denotes Room 12. Its neighbor to the left is Room 14.

Unfortunately, the motel is slowly falling to pieces. We wish it been restored when there was still a possibility of that happening. Inside the rooms we see lots of dirt and rot, as well as mattresses, broken toilets and tile shower stalls--you would think some items would have been removed back when the motel closed.
On a different note, I took pictures of the beautiful white-fleshed, flat peaches that Patti gave us yesterday. Very tasty!

My friend from the gym, Debbie O. brought over a beautiful crocheted dishcloth the day before we left--too pretty to use, but I have.

And a picture of the cover I made for the toaster oven. The close up shows where I attached two little pins--one is a cup and saucer, the other a teapot! That makes it easy for me to tell front from back when I go to cover the oven
The Wildcats baseball game is on now...hope I don't jinx it by watching.
(I only watched a little bit, really...sorry!)

We took a walk down the main street and I was able to get more pictures, some of which are accessible...again, we have to wait for the other photos!

A very cute Hudson is parked in a garage next to a room at the Blue Swallow Motel.
