Catching up

Luckily, I am not totally dependent on internet service this trip, but I have to admit, I like keeping up with the blog and my email! It has been four days since we have been at a park with wifi! September 20, somewhere in Kansas....

In Chanute at the entrance to the HitchHiker factory with our friends Skip and Donna.

Inside the factory

The following pictures were taken the next day as we took the tour to see how the 5th wheels are being made.

After the tour we found a fabric store. I bought four different pieces, will figure out why later!

I am in front of the thrift store where I found a top and Cary purchased a neat western style coat and vest, as well as a goofy Halloween hat.

Downtown Chanute

A tribute to Octave Chanute for whom the town was named. He was a mentor to the Wright Brothers.

A museum

We purchased a replacement for part of the door, making it easier to open and close.

Early supper at Benchwarmers; we were the only ones there most of the time. Fun place, good food.

At the Iowa Welcome Center

Cary enjoyed seeing this in the RV park, located at a Casino in Osceola.

The outside temperature about 9:00 as we drove towards the Amana colonies! Better than the 100 at home!

Des Moines

Photostitched picture of a huge propeller (for one of the many windmills) that was going down the interstate.

Seen as we make our way to Duffy's

Pine Needles fabric store in Cedar Rapids. Amazing stuff, but I managed to escape with my credit card unscathed!

This blog is really hard to work on; I plan to find another site eventually.
