After breakfast at the Econolodge we packed the car and headed for home. Lunch at a New Mexico rest stop (all the AZ rest stops are closed between Texas Canyon and New Mexico), which we had to eat in the car because of the cold wind. I did get out to snap a picture of some bright yellow poppies.
Once we got into Arizona we noticed a very long line of cars, backed up maybe two miles. I thought it was due to road construction, but it turns out there had been another dust storm (the fields have been plowed up and nothing is holding down the dirt). We heard on the news that twelve cars were involved, including an unoccupied police car, but luckily, there were no serious injuries. I am glad we missed the dust storm, and that the backup was on the other side of the road!
Once we got into Tucson we saw this car on the back of a trailer--
We both wondered what it was and guessed a Roadrunner. It turns out that it was a Charger, designation Super Bee on both sides of the car near the front. Cute picture of a bumble bee too.
I am sure I have seen it at a car show or two.
We had a great time with family, now we have lots to do before the next much bigger sojourn!
