From the kitchen window of the lighthouse--if you knew where to look you could see the Point St. George Reef Lighthouse to the north. It was decomissioned in 1975 due to the hazardous conditions posed to the workers. At the time it was built it was the most expensive on the California coast--over $750,000 in 1891. For awhile helicopter tours went out there, but now repairs need to be made before that can go on again. Tomorrow night a concert is being held in town to raise funds for that purpose.
As we left work today I tried getting a picture of the last group up in the tour listening to the guide tell about the sights and outbuildings on the island. Great visitors again today. Lots of interested and interesting kids!
Every day I have to take pictures of things I know I took pictures of the day before. So breathtaking. Everyone needs to come see for themselves.
After a stop a Walmart for a few essesntials (and ice cream for Cary), we went home for supper. Donna and I took a walk and now I am about ready for bed (again). How is it that three hours of work got to be so tiring? Maybe the cranky cash register had something to do with it!
