Kearney, Nebraska

Before we went to the Archway Museum, we needed some provisions (as did everyone else on a Saturday afternoon at Wal-Mart) and had to find a post office. The older areas of town are very interesting.

It is amazing to consider that this archway over the highway is a museum!

After paying, each of us rode up the escalator to learn about the history of transportation in the area and all points west.
The lighting was pretty dark; some of my shots didn't turn out at all. Sound effects gave us the feeling of storms, etc.

Can you even imagine how hard these folks had it?
Many treks west ended this way; the wagon in shreds, possessions left to rot on the plains...and more than one family member buried there.

Eventually the transportation was in cars.

Some of the mannequins in the display looked so real--you were prepared to have one talk to you!

Of course, the diner.
And, of course, the drive-in movie!

Very interesting and informative.
