Hydrangeas are blue in this area; the color is dependent upon the chemical makeup of the soil.
We have been to a sale here in years past. Lots of free stuff at the entry to the drive. I can't remember if we picked up anything in that pile or not!
Getting here was challenging; it was hardly worth the trouble. I think I got a packet of some fabric and ribbon and two recipes!
After yard sales in Crescent City we drove to Brookings for a few more and then lunch at Panchos for some yummy Mexican food. I also found a new (to me) fabric store and purchased two yards for some new placemats. Hmm, I need to take pictures.
Pam, one of the owners of the RV park decided to host a s'mores party at 6:00 Friday night. She had also made some s'more cookies for those of us too impatient to wait for the marshmallows to toast.
These are her two darling granddaughters and a friendly puppy. Janelle is the woman whose denim-clad knees you see behind the girls. She is the one who fell when the bench collapsed. She is back at the park now. Still hurting though.
Saturday we went out for a newspaper and more yard sales. It has been an absolutely gorgeous day--probably the best since we have been here.
We found two paperback books here--5 cents each!
Out at St. George Reef--we got there after several hippie couples and their dogs were settled in, so we didn't stay long. I did take a picture of the lighthouse and Cary did get his binoculars set up for an awesome view. (lighthouse way off in the distance over his right shoulder)
Can you see it?
Every view of the water was breathtaking!
We decided that we had to get sandwiches at Subway, take some coffee and have a picnic with an ocean view. In the parking lot we spied this 1930 Frasier Nash just as this couple was ready to head out to Monterey. Cary got to talk to them briefly. He came home and googled the car so he could find out more. Only 400 of them were made in England (the couple are also English).
I hope we get to do this again before we leave in a week (time has really flown by).
Another couple drove up in this--with a pizza and Pepsi--and Cary interrupted their lunch to find out more about the cycle. A Polaris, 4-cylinder engine, 170 horse power and only weighs 1700 pounds!
