When we pulled over to check in at our RV park in Florence a guy stopped to talk to Cary. He had been following us for enough miles to notice the trailer was, as he put it, "dog walking." You know how when you pass someone walking a dog, the dog always pulls away from the walker and toward you? Sort of at an angle. Well, that is how the trailer looked.
They got down and checked underneath. The two trailer tires were rubbing together on the driver's side because the spring hanger for the rear suspension had broken! We were lucky to not have any major damage, but we couldn't risk driving it anywhere for a repair. Dave, the helpful local, looked up a welding shop for us and sent us (without the trailer) to see what we could find out. They could not get to it so we were sent to another welding shop where Jack, the owner, was called away to see what he could do. He followed us to the park, checked it out and will be back tomorrow with a part and tools. Whew!
This is how Walmart looked at 8:30 this morning--some of it is smoke from a Washington fire!
Our HitchHiker at the RV park in Florence. It is the middle trailer; Cary's truck is parked nose in.
I walked over the little hill to get a few pictures. Smoke is definitely in the air here too.
For supper we walked over to Mo's and bought some clam chowder base which I heated with a cup of milk for some very yummy eating. We won't get out to do tourist stuff until we know the trailer is fixed and we can relax.
