Yesterday was busy, several tours in the hour and a half we were open. I think I failed to mention that two days ago we had a couple from Denmark. Yesterday a gentleman from Cameroon, although he has lived in Salem for some time with his wife and four kids.
I liked the way the light looked in the corner of the Wayne Piland room.Thursday night I fixed some cod that a neighbor gave us. I had never fixed this kind of fish, but decided I could figure it out--some panko crumbs in olive oil, lightly sautéed, turned out good.
Friday morning we got up, went to the post office to mail another Etsy order, stopped by the museum to see if a September schedule was out yet (no), then to the library to donate some magazines. I picked up a mystery from the free books shelf.
Cary had seen a sign for an estate sale, so we went off to find that. I can't believe I didn't take a picture--it was one of the largest we had ever seen! Cary got two wonderful coffee table books on lighthouses, some caulk, a Swiss Army knife...I found several mailing envelopes, address labels, a box of card making supplies, new package of colorful pens, and a new plastic tablecloth. There were several bins of free towels, so Cary got a bunch to keep in the trailer basement for future cleanups. We may go back tomorrow after work.
Another highlight of the day was the wonderful potluck. We took a salad and cheesecake, ate way too much and the hostess served many batches of frozen margaritas. Not my thing, but Cary had one.
More tomorrow...cranky internet...
