From Murdo, SD

I think this is smoke from one of the SD fires; at first I thought fog. Hmmm...

If this hadn't been so handy, believe me, we would not have stopped. What a congested place, with not a lot to offer except the usual tourist stuff you see all over the country. The bookstore was interesting. I had no earthly idea that Wall Drug was actually many little tourist traps!

I can't remember when it was founded. All this time I pictured a little drug store like I used to go to as a kid, soda fountain, etc.

A glimpse of the badlands

Our RV park (there are three of us here, maybe only two now because the people next to us were having many, many problems) is next to a big car museum. Cary took my camera over, didn't want to pay $10 to see the cars. I think he was also pretty tired!

Murdo, South Dakota, was named for Murdo MacKenzie, a Texas oilman. The 2010 census gives it 488 people, including a U.S. senator.

Here's the happy couple. Cary borrowed the manager's clippers to take down lots of branches that hung over our trailer. You can see some of them to Cary's right. We are now in Central Daylight Time, which means bedtime comes a little sooner. If it would just get dark!
