The first order Fresnel Lens at Cape Meares even has some red glass in some of its panels. We did not take the tour, just watched the video and looked at the gift shop and made a donation.
Maria! Her daddy told me I could take her picture. She is such a cutie, very happy to be outside. If you need a smile, just return to this picture periodically and I guarantee you will get one. She is 11 months old.
The Octopus tree, a Sitka Spruce, is over 200 years old, 100 feet tall. Spectacular!
Rosanna's Café was recommended to us by a woman in the Village Camper Inn RV Park in Crescent City; we stumbled on it by accident, but were very pleased to have found it. I tried halibut for the first time.
By now we were too tired (lots of walking involved to see the lighthouse and the tree) to continue the Scenic Loop, so we started back to the trailer.
We stopped at this yard sale on the way back. It is a Monterey dome, built by the homeowner's father in 1978, with a solarium attached, then a huge shop attached to it where her dad worked on his big tractor--he was a trucker.
This was another yard sale back towards Tillamook. Yard sales in the area usually have things for sale that are wet, rusty or both. That was the case here.
One more yard sale at a cabinet shop and Cary found a dirt devil vacuum for $1, just perfect for vacuuming the steps and couches. So he is happy.
