The drive from Florence to Newport is beautiful, although twisty with hills. I am glad I am the passenger.
With all the wild fires going on, it is wonderful there are so many beautiful forests surrounding us.
Yachats, for two of my friends who should be checking on the blog!
Our campground is down there!
Tuesday morning we went west to a little town called Toledo. Cute mural. I wish I had taken a picture of the bar called "Holy Toledo!" Population just over 3500.
Meanwhile back in Newport I checked out Quilters' Cove and Cary talked to the owners of this 1973 fire truck. They drove it here from British Columbia (at 45 mph), to advertise the fair. Cary found out it had 20,000 miles with an 85-foot ladder.
We were delayed getting back to the campground for quite some time; there was an accident on this side of the bridge (we saw someone lying in the road), which backed up the traffic on both sides. We detoured to the Yaquina Lighthouse Visitors' Center (handy restroom and great views).
These two black birds (crows?) were chatting and kissing!
When we saw the cars begin to move on the bridge we started home for lunch. It still took over half an hour. I hope that person is okay.
More to come; the day is still young!
